Friends and family of David Duncan, 18 are in shock today as it is learned that he appears to have died during the major snowstorm that hit the mountain Sunday, March 20.
FRAZIER PARK, CA (Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.)— A memorial service for David Reed Duncan has been scheduled for Friday, March 25 at 1 p.m. in Valencia, where he had been attending high school and playing on the basketball team. His parents, who are both teachers at the high school, are planning to hold the memorial at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 27827 North Skycrest Circle, Valencia 91355 (across the bridge from Valencia Hospital).
A family friend said the parents have been surrounded today by members of their church, who are seeking to comfort the family.
BAKERSFIELD, CA (Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 2:44 p.m.)—The Kern County Coroner’s office has officially confirmed that David Reed Duncan, 18 was found deceased at the southwest corner of Mead and Irvon Trails in Frazier Park on Monday, March 21. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday, March 22. Cause of death will be determined after toxicology tests are complete, the report states.
FRAZIER PARK, CA (Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 9 a.m.)—Friends and family of David Duncan, 18 are expressing shock and grief today as word spreads that his body was found in Frazier Park on Monday morning, in the snow. The Kern County Coroner’s office is conducting an autopsy and will make official confirmations today, according to Deputy Ray Pruitt. Meanwhile, friends and family are posting poems and photos on the internet, supporting each other. Duncan, who lived in Frazier Park and reportedly attended high school in Valencia, was a friend to many young people in the Mountain Communities. He was a participant for several years in the Junior Falcon Football program.
FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, March 21, 2011 at 3:39 p.m.)—Sgt. Mark Brown of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office has provided additional details regarding the body that was found this morning. The call came in at 7:20 a.m., he said. The body was found south of Irvon Trail and Mead Trail off Decator Trail in Frazier Park. If you are aware of a missing person who matches the description (white male, appearing to be in his early twenties, perhaps 200 pounds), please call the Frazier Park substation with the information: 661-245-3440.
FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, March 21, 2011 at 2:11 p.m.)–The body of a man in his early twenties was found in Frazier Park early this morning. According to Kern County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Brown, a property owner found the body at the edge of his property. There were no obvious signs of foul play, according to Brown. The man was described as a white male with red hair, about 200 lbs.
