The Mountain Shakespeare Festival’s sixth season launches Thursday, July 1 with a hilarious “The Taming of the Shrew.” It will play in repertory with Neil Simon’s beloved comedy “The Odd Couple,” which opens next Thursday, July 8. The two shows will play through July 24 in the Pine Mountain Village Center gazebo.

Invite all your friends and family from throughout the region to join you for the “Mountain Shakes” fun. The festival has become a proud mountain tradition.

This week “The Taming of the Shrew” will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Then, starting next week, “The Odd Couple” alternates with “Shrew” through the end of the run.

The big, funny cast of Shakespeare’s most ribald comedy is directed by Bill Fair, showcasing dynamic performances by Stacey Havener, David Mack, David Stenstrom, Tom Donovan, Beans Morocco, Gonzalo Lomeli, Sam Greer, Delaney Peterson, Colton Fair, Dale Sheldon, Rocky Canada, Julia Canada, Gigi Day, Bill Day, Rhonda De La Cruz, Luis De La Cruz, Henry Rigdon, John Lucewich, Violet Rose Fowler, Katie Barnes, Leah Golden, Ronni Howell, Warren Stearns and Bill Fair.

Talented Peter Kjenaas directs “The Odd Couple.” David Stenstrom plays the messy Oscar Madison. David Mack is the fastidious Felix Ungar. Michelle Morain and Susan Buffington are the delightful Pigeon sisters, offset by poker buddies Dale Sheldon, Marty Brenner, Beans Morocco and Bill Fair.
