Wildfire Protection Plan Seeks Tough Measures

Consultant Tim Walsh made a full report of his yearlong wildfire protection study for this region, Saturday, Jan. 13. He presented customized defense plans for each of the Mountain Community villages.

Walsh called for a “dip tank” water source northwest of Frazier Park for helicopter tankers to avoid hazard to residents when using the Frazier Park pond. He specified significant fuel clearing projects for Los Padres Forest and homeowners.

Members of the public, firefighters, Forest Service and Fire Safe Council members attended the unveiling.

Four extra-large pizzas donated by Caveman Cavey’s seemed to soften the blow slightly, as homeowners and USFS personnel considered the work ahead.
