BAKERSFIELD, CA (Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 1:58 p.m.)—CHP reports that all southbound lanes of SR-99 north of SR-223 are now open.
BAKERSFIELD, CA (Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 1:23 p.m.)—CHP issued this notice regarding the 20-car collision on SR-99:
At approximately 12:00pm The California Highway Patrol Bakersfield Communications Center was advised of a multiple vehicle injury collision blocking all lanes of SR-99 southbound north of SR-223. Upon arrival Bakersfield CHP units advised the collision involved approximately 20 vehicles with minor injuries advised.
Currently the two left lanes (#1 and #2) are closed with no estimated time to reopen. The slow lane (#3) is open and traffic is also directed to the right shoulder to get past the scene. Traffic on SR99 southbound is currently backed up approximately 3 miles north of the scene. Northbound SR99 traffic is also slowing but no lanes are blocked. No estimated time has been advised to re-open lane or lane, motorists should expect delays or use an alternate route.
