$500 Art Poster Contest by Kern Co. Nut Festival

The Kern County Nut Festival is calling for artists to create artwork for the official 2014 Kern County Nut Festival Art Poster exhibition. The top prize is $500, with $200 for second place and $100 for third place. “Think fun, lively, festive!” says the call to artists. “To be selected as the artist will be quite an honor and we plan to inform the media about the winning poster artist.”

Almonds and pistachios are the leading Kern County nut crops, followed by pecans and walnuts.

“The trees, especially in bloom, are beautiful and would be a great subject matter. Food produced from nuts like cookies, cakes, is also appropriate for artwork.” Art must be photo-reproducible, two dimensional, such as drawings, paintings and photographs.
The deadline is April 18, 2014. See detailed requirements for the submission at www.kernarts.org —P. Hedlund
