April Fool’s Day Jokes For our Troops?

A Big Hello from Our Small Town

A Big Hello From Our Small Town again! Susan Bates, a Frazier Park School second grade teacher, wants to have her class send letters to our troops at an unexpected time of year. “I don’t want them to get the idea we only think about them at Thanksgiving or Christmas,” Bates said.

Her idea was to invite students—and anyone else who would like to join in—to write letters to the troops that end with a joke or funny story. She wants to target April Fool’s Day.

So far, Girl and Boy Scouts will be writing letters. I’ll be contacting PMLC, Gorman School, the High School and El Tejon. I’d like to invite all homeschoolers, church groups, the AARP, VFW, any and all community folks who would like to send a bit of cheer to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan to all participate. The Mountain Enterprise office will be a collection point (there is a mail slot 24-7 by the door). And March 16 is the deadline.

This is part of the February 26, 2010 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
