Business Notes: New Mountain Chamber Bursting with Enthusiasm

Next Member Meeting is February 23 at 7 p.m. at Mountain Properties Frazier Park Office (on Monterey Trail) across from Don’s Liquor Mart

Here are excerpts from the very newsy Mountain Communities Chamber of Commerce:

A big ‘Congrantulations’ to the Mountain Shakespeare Festival! They were awarded a $4,000 grant from the Kern County Board of Trade to be used toward out-of-county marketing for the upcoming July Festival. The Chamber’s Facebook site announces that the Center of the World Festival has been granted $10,000 for promoting their festival in August. [This is an exclusive folks, because Kern County Board of Trade Director David Hook says the official announcements will not be coming out for two more weeks. Watch for additional good news for the Mountain Communities in that announcement.]

Thank you to Gary Wilson and Michi Knight for hosting our monthly member meetings. Beverages and cookies were provided. Michi even baked banana bread that was so fresh, it was still steaming hot from the oven. Twenty-three members and guests attended. Our meetings are fast becoming an excellent place to make new contacts, so we’d love to see you next time on February 23.

Thank you to Dave Gilman and Pam Sturdevant for updating and cleaning the Chamber’s “Welcome” sign in Lebec.

We are seeking Nominating Committee Members! This committee is developing a slate of candidates for the Chamber Board of Directors, to replace those directors whose terms are expiring. Email committees@mymountainchamber. com for more details. See the chamber’s new site at www. mymountainchamber.com.

This is part of the February 17, 2012 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
