Family and Friends Search for Missing Mom

On May 13 Brenda Melech, 48 packed a neat bag for her son while he was at school. She left it on the sofa with her purse, identification and a note for her best friend. She caught a regional transit bus from Frazier Park Mobile Village to Mountain View Mini Mart in Lake of the Woods. Inside, according to her good friend Kate Roe, she purchased a turkey sandwich and a bottle of alcohol. She has not been seen since. Her note spoke of being exhausted.

Every day her son sits on the porch, waiting for her to return, a source close to the family said. Her friends have called each number in her address book, they say, speaking with people from her past and present, hoping to obtain a clue as to where she might be. "We miss her. We want her to come home," Roe said in an interview, her voice breaking with emotion.

A missing persons report has been filed. Lead Deputy Kevin George said Tuesday, May 27 that he has no trace so far of her whereabouts.
