Fatal crash in Gorman closed freeway lanes

GORMAN, CA (Friday, Oct. 9 at 9:15 a.m.)—A fatal crash on southbound Interstate 5 near Quail Lake Road at about 4 a.m. caused the closure of southbound lanes #1 and #2 (fast lanes) after a silver VW Jetta rear-ended a box truck and was crushed under the rear of the truck, according to preliminary CHP reports. Traffic was backed up north of Gorman on the southbound side of the freeway until about 9:10 a.m. when lanes were opened.
