Firefighter Paramedic Guidelines for Pine Mountain Released

(BAKERSFIELD—February 18, 2009)—The Kern County Department of Emergency Medical Services presented to the board of supervisors a long-awaited document on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Director Ross Elliott provided the detailed plan for implementation of the first firefighter-paramedic program in Kern County. There was a 75.3% "yes" vote by Pine Mountain voters to tax themselves $70 per year to finance the program. Residents said they hope it will provide a higher level of rapid first responder assistance while waiting for an ambuance to arrive for transport to hospital care.
