Flu Vaccine Clinic Offered Wednesday, Nov. 9

By Mountain Enterprise Staff

A flu vaccine clinic for all residents of the Mountain Communities will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The location this year is the Pine Mountain Clubhouse (2524 Beechwood Way, across from Pine Mountain Auto Center on Mil Potrero Highway).

Van rides are being offered for those from Frazier Park, Lebec and Lake of the Woods.

Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church has made it a community service project to give rides in their van to the clinic location in Pine Mountain. Pickup will be from the church’s Lake of the Woods parking lot (next to Frazier Mountain Park Road) at 8:25 and 9:45 a.m.

The county is collecting a $13 fee for the flu shot. That must be paid in cash, no checks or credit cards taken.

The county says that a "first come, first served" line will be formed. Pine Mountain says they are making a sign-up list. You can call 661-242-3788, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mon.-Fri.

Dr. Claudia Jonah, Kern County Health Officer, said, "The high risk target groups for flu vaccine include children, those 65 and over, pregnant women, and anyone with an underlying chronic condition that weakens the immune system, such as HIV, asthma or cancer."
