FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 9:45 a.m.)—Several Frazier Park residents have reported aggressive and misleading sales tactics by representatives of a company calling itself Titan H2O. Diane Stewart of Frazier Park told The Mountain Enterprise on Tuesday, March 28 that a Titan H2O representative said he was “mandated by the state” to install a water filtration system on her house because, he said, local water has high arsenic. Frazier Park Public Utility District Manager Jonnie Allison said FPPUD regularly reports its water quality, including arsenic levels, and if levels had exceeded state established maximums then residents would be notified. He said he checked the levels today and the arsenic level was 3.3 parts per billion and that the maximum allowed by the state is 10 parts per billion. “We are well below the maximum,” Allison said.

Pepper Black of Frazier Park was visited Tuesday by Titan H2O and given the same story. “He said our area has high contaminants and said he was mandated by the State of California to install a filter system on my water line. When I told him I was going to call the water company and I went back inside to the phone, he started opening my water meter cover without my permission. My dog started barking at him and he waved his arms at my dog, provoking him to growl and bark more. I yelled at the guy to leave my dog alone and I called the sheriff. He took off,” Black said.

FPPUD’s Allison said he is not aware of any state mandate for companies to install filter systems on anyone’s home in this area.

While Diane Stewart was told that a filtration system would be installed completely free of charge, she said Titan H2O told her neighbor it would be $60 per month. A flyer given to Pepper Black said “EZ financing available.”

Titan H2O’s materials say the company is located in Van Nuys.

Daniel Avila, the sales manager driving a white van through Frazier Park neighborhoods with his crew of salesmen in the back, said he would be working the local neighborhoods Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

If anyone enters your property and tampers with your water lines without your permission, you are advised to call the sheriff’s department dispatch at 661-861-3110 and request that a deputy be sent to your home.
