By the time fire crews arrived to the house at 720 Pasadena Trail in Frazier Park, it was already completely engulfed in flames. Dave Giniewicz Assaly wondered why the 911 operator had to ask so many questions when he called, rather than just send a fire truck immediately.

John Cavey Jr., whose family owns a home behind the burned house, said he heard a small explosion before seeing what he thought was smoke. Nobody at the scene said they knew what started the fire.

Residents Robert Powers and Carol Rexhepi said they have lost everything except their pickup truck.

No one was injured in the fire, but the couple’s 5-month-old dog, Tiger, was hit and killed by a car while running from the house.
