The nights are starting to cool just a little, and dreams of football are in the air. Conditioning practice began on Monday, July 28 for youths who want to play with the Frazier Mountain High School Falcons this year. They meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at FMHS until school starts, Coach Russ Heasley said. He can be reached at facebook.com/fraziermountain.

Condors/Trojans

Meanwhile, the Frazier Mountain Condors/Trojans football teams are already into scrimmages, with flag football for ages 6 to 9 years and tackle for 10-13 years. Coach Roger Sumpter said the team is partly Bakersfield youths. He and Deandre Lewis said they hope to have additional mountain youngsters sign up for the teams (call 661.699.4355).

Sumpter reports that in last week’s game against the Bakersfield Wildcats: “Bryce Corbin had a quarterback sack, Manuel Paz and Robert Chavez were beasts, blocking for a few touchdowns, and Lance Adargo, Elijah Cordova and David Lewis were notable players.” Condors/Trojans invite the public to come support them on Thursday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at Horizon Elementary School, 7901 Monitor Street, Bakersfield.
