License and vaccinate your dogs and get a microchip for free

On Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon, the City of Bakersfield Animal Control Division, along with Kern County Animal Control, will be offering low cost rabies vaccinations and licensing at the Park at Riverwalk, 10012 Stockdale Highway.

Free microchips will also be offered to all currently licensed dogs. The microchip cost is $10 for dogs without a current license.
The electronic microchip effort is a program focused on reducing the number of impounded animals entering the shelter system and is becoming the preferred form of animal and owner identification.
