Living the Good Life After 65: What Kind of Senior Services Are Available Here?

Reported by Gary Ivey, FRC

Representatives of agencies that serve older adults are coming together on Friday, May 6 from 10:30 a.m. to noon to provide information on services and resources that can enhance the lives and well being of older adults.

The Mountain Communities Family Resource Center invites the community to attend this Senior Collaborative Meeting being held at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center, (3801 Park Drive).

Representatives from the Social Security Administration, the Kern County Aging and Adult Services Department’s Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), the Seniors’ Law Center of Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance and the Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) will all be presenting information on programs and services important to older adults.

Attendees will learn about the SSI program; how to report important changes to the Social Security Administration; how the HICAP program provides free help with Medicare issues; and how to obtain free legal services—including about the the Grandparent Guardianship Project.

Please join the Family Resource Center and our community partners as we do our part to serve the older adults of our Mountain Communities.
