NEWS UPDATE: Northbound Closures on Interstate 5

NIGHTTIME CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR NORTHBOUND I-5, Monday, Aug.  31 to Thursday Sept. 3

SANTA CLARITA – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close up to three lanes of the northbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) from Magic Mountain Parkway to Lake Hughes Road in the Santa Clarita area between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 a.m., beginning Monday, August 31 until Thursday, September 3.

The closures are to enable joint seal assembly related to a pavement restoration project on I-5 between Calgrove Boulevard and Lake Hughes Road. Security Paving, Inc. is the contractor on the $9.3 million project, which started in September 2008 and will complete in early 2010.

The project repairs storm damage incurred in the winter of 2007-08. When completed, the pavement will be stronger and will provide a smoother riding surface for motorists.
