The Relayers are coming!

Mark your calendars. The second annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the Mountain Communities is coming up on June 21-22 at Frazier Mountain High School.

We currently have 14 teams and 84 team members signed up. Last year we had 22 teams and 166 team members. So if you’ve waited, we need you to step up now.

Our planning meeting is Thursday, May 22, at the Frazier Park Library, 5:30 p.m. so stop on by.
For June 21-22 we have lots of fun in store. This free event is for the public.

Our opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. and the fun, emotion and teamwork continue from there!

Scott Parsons will be our dauntless DJ again and both Bandit and YesterYear will grace us with their classic rock renditions.

Robin Barrington has an even more amazing Kids Camp planned for this year with plenty to do for the little people.

Other activities include the watermelon eating contest, Zumba, and the ever-popular ‘Dude Looks Like a Lady.’

Search and Rescue will return with their awesome burgers and Schwan’s will again bring on the ice cream!

If you would like to start a team or simply sign up as a survivor or individual walker there is still time.

If we can help with more information, please contact June Schmidt at 661.289.5040 or schmdthd@att.net.

To sign up, make a donation or to purchase a luminaria to honor a cancer survivor or to honor the memory of someone, please visit our web page at www.relayforlife.org/mountaincommunitiesca.

This is part of the May 16, 2014 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.

Have an opinion on this matter? We'd like to hear from you.
