Tait Ranch Rumors Fly

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at 4:40 p.m.)—Numerous calls have come to The Mountain Enterprise regarding text messages that were being sent to residents of the Mountain Communities today about plans for the Tait Ranch property.

We have interviewed CEO Nathan Arias of Soledad Enrichment Action (SEA) and have been assured that the notion promulgated in the text messages that there is to be a "900 bed facility for felons and murderers" is an inflammatory rumor. We will feature a full-length interview with Arias in this week’s newspaper. SEA runs small school sites in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley for at-risk students "who are needing to make up credits, to help put them back on track educationally so they can return to mainstream schools to graduate," Arias said.

The Tait Ranch area will be used as a campground. "We are just cleaning it up a little now before the winter weather comes, so it will be beautiful," Arias said. He added that the Mountain Communities will be welcome to use the grounds for events as they have in the past.

The Mountain Enterprise will assist in setting up a community forum shortly after Thanksgiving to introduce the new owners. Arias said they want to tell the community about their programs and to answer the community’s questions. Please see the new issue of The Mountain Enterprise newspaper on newsstands this Thursday for the full story.—Patric Hedlund, Managing Editor, The Mountain Enterprise
