This Thanksgiving we are grateful to the Mountain Community for all the kindness they show to each other through good times and tough times. This proud tom turkey, Gus, was featured last year on our front page after we discovered him roaming the Maga family estate in Cuddy Valley. The Magas gave him to Steve and Reyna Stegeman in Lake of the Woods, who fully intended to roast Gus for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. But Gus became the Stegeman children’s buddy and they pleaded for a pardon. So Gus is celebrating Thanksgiving as a member of the Stegeman family this year.
