Top Performing Charter School Has Rare Opening For New Students

By Michi Knight

The Pine Mountain Learning Center (PMLC) has some important news to share with the community.

Due to some families moving out of the state, there are currently openings in every grade. Normally there is a waiting list, but right now, there are no children on the waiting list.

With a 901 academic performance index (API), PMLC has the second highest in all of Kern County. Children enjoy small class sizes in a beautiful mountain setting at the base of Mt. Abel.

PMLC is continuing its fundraising activities. They collect recyclable plastic bottles and aluminum cans (no glass, please) at morning dropoff (7:30 – 8:00 a.m.) at the turnout near the school off of Mil Potrero Highway. The next recycling collection dates are February 3 and 17.

Mountain Community residents can also help support PMLC by purchasing scrip and gift cards for most major grocery and chain stores. Contact Kelly Franti at tkfranti@gmail.com for more information.
