Town Hall tackles fears with facts

By Dayne Yancey, PMC CERT

California’s record-breaking drought continues. We are well into what should be our rainy and snowy season, but even with the recent storm we still have had no significant moisture. Our community is surrounded by Los Padres National Forest, which is a tinderbox.

We are also situated on the San Andreas Fault.

•Would you be ready if there were an emergency tomorrow?

•Do you know the latest Kern County Fire Department requirements on property clearances?

•Do you know the best way to protect your property and your family?

Come to the Town Hall Meeting on March 13 at 7 p.m. in the Pine Mountain Club Condor Room. The PMCPOA Emergency Preparedness Committee, along with PMC’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will host an informative meeting—complete with door prizes and refreshments.

Ask questions of Kern County Fire Department, Los Padres National Forest, Kern County Sheriff’s Department and Mil Potrero Mutual Water Company. The Pine Mountain Amateur Radio Club will share information on radio communications.

There will also be displays and handouts on Emergency Preparedness.

This is part of the March 6, 2015 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
