• Lockwood’s Ranch is the location for this year’s Destination Dinner Fundraiser for the Ridge Route Communities Museum. Dinner is at 5 p.m. but come at 4 p.m. for the tour. Historian Bonnie Kane will give a talk on the exotic history of the ranch, linked to Hollywood celebrities, McCarthy-era Blacklists and some of our most beloved movies. Tickets are $50 per person. • The Written Word Series invites you to spend an evening with author Rebecca Langston-George Saturday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m. at Artworks Community Gallery (16233 Pine Valley Ln., PMV). Langston-George is a language arts teacher and the author of several books for children including For the Right to Learn: Malala Yousafzai’s Story and Orphan Trains: Taking the Rails to a New Life. The event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.

• The South Kern Cemetery District meets at 3 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library to receive public comment on the proposed acquisition and development of property for a cemetery in Frazier Park.

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

• Ukelele Jam sessions are held the every first Wednesday of the month beginning today, 5–7 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library. Bring your own instrument to join in the fun. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Homecoming begins at 6 p.m. with a parade at Frazier Mountain High School. The pageantry continues at halftime with Homecomng royalty. Come cheer on the Falcons as they take on Alpaugh High School.
