• The Mountain Communities Holiday Faire is noon–6 p.m. in downtown Frazier Park. Vendors, food, free entertainment, games, contests and a drawing are all part of the fun. Santa and his elves will check out those Christmas wish lists (inside Inter Faith Electric). The Tree Lighting Ceremony is at sundown (about 5:15 p.m.) and the Festival of Lights Parade is 5:30 p.m. See pages 1 and 2 for call to kids on bikes!

* Will there be a Taj Mahal II? At 1 p.m. the PMC Clubhouse Task Force will introduce itself, report on its progress and listen to your ideas going forward. The task force is hoping for good participation of members with good questions and good ideas. See story on page 1 of the print edition.

• The Toys for Tots and Gifts for Teens deadline is today to register a child to receive gifts. Call the Mountain Communities Family Resource Center for details (661.245.4303) and go in person to sign up. Donate new, unwrapped gifts in Toys for Tots boxes around town to Dec. 13.

• Scholastic Book Fair starts today at Frazier Park School and runs through Friday, Dec. 8. The book fair is open during lunch
(10:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m.) and after school from 2:30 to 4 p.m. All are welcome to come browse.

• In the Wings Studio of Dance pre-sale tickets for this year’s ‘A Fantasy Christmas Show’ are available starting today (3254 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park; 661.245.5678). Pre-sale tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids under 13. The performance is Saturday, Dec. 23, 4 p.m. (doors open at 3 p.m.) at Frazier Mountain High School.

• An Open House and Orientation for the Mountain Communities Family Resource Center’s new “by-appointment” services in Pine Mountain Village is 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Mil Potrero Mutual Water Company meeting room (16275 Askin Dr., Pine Mountain Village). For information about which services will be available call 661.245.4303. About 62 residents of PMC use the center’s services now.

• A Public Hearing on the “snow bunny” increase in parking fines along portions of Cuddy Valley Road is 2 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield). • AARP Christmas luncheon is noon in the Frazier Park Senior Center. Members and guests are asked to bring their special holiday dishes and desserts this year for the potluck. A Christmas singalong and surprise guests round out the fun.

• The Frazier Park Library will be closed Friday, Dec. 8 for a staff development meeting. Regular hours resume on Saturday.

• ‘Coffee with a Cop’ is Saturday, Dec. 9, 8–11 a.m. at Falcon’s Nest (3216 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park). This is an opportunity to interact with local law enforcement in a relaxed setting. Assemblyman Vince Fong’s liaison officer also be there to hear your comments and concerns.

• Christmas in the Village is Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning with the parade at noon. Visit Santa in the Gazebo after the parade until 3 p.m. Vendors, live entertainment, hot chocolate and more. Kids gift shop features items for 25 cents (limit four per child).

• ‘Jolly Follies’ is this year’s Speak Easy Theater holiday show Saturday, Dec. 9, 7 p.m. at Basecamp (16311 Askin Dr., PMV). Tickets are $5 (661.242.2709). A second performance is Friday, Dec. 15.

• Frazier Mountain Little League’s Early Bird Registration is through December 31 (http://www.eteamz.com/FMLittleleague/handouts/).

• Holiday Lights at California Living Museum is a dazzling show December 1 through January 6 (closed Christmas), 5:30–9 p.m. (10500 Alfred Harrell Highway, Bakersfield; 661.872.2256). Tickets are $6–12 and children under three are free.
