•Recycle your Christmas tree, December 27–January 12 at the Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road, Lebec). Kern County Waste Management asks that you please remove tree stands, nails and decorations (no plastic garbage bags, please).

•Resolve to dance more in the New Year! Join In The Wings dance studio during the ‘New for 2’ enrollment period, Jan 6–31. First class is regular price; add a second class for $2. This offer applies to new or current students and eligible classes only (661-245-5678).

•The PMCPOA board will hold open budget workshops on Tuesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. (2425 Beechwood Way, PMC clubhouse).

•If you take the school bus home to Pine Mountain, make the short walk from the bus stop to the PMC recreation room for quiet study time during the Homework Club’s open hours, every Tuesday and Thursday from 3–5 p.m. except school holidays (2425 Beechwood Way, Pine Mountain).

Saturday, Jan. 4

•Visit Fort Tejon State Historic Park’s Frontier Army Day Dragoon program, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Living history demonstrations by costumed guides teach you 1856-era frontier skills from the western outpost of the U.S. Army (take I-5 north, then the Fort Tejon exit onto Fort Tejon Road)

Monday, Jan. 6

•All Local Schools End Winter Vacation today. Classes resume at Gorman Elementary, Frazier Park School, El Tejon, Frazier Mountain High School and Peak to Peak Mountain Charter today. Welcome back!

Tuesday, Jan. 7

Saturday, Jan. 11

•An architect will give an analysis of the condition of the Pine Mountain clubhouse today, 1 p.m. in an open meeting. All members are invited to come listen to the info that will be used to make future plans about possibly renovating or rebuilding one of PMC’s greatest assets.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

•Frazier Mountain High School hosts the Falcon girls’ basketball games. JV Falcons take on Kern Valley at 3 p.m. Varsity Falcons challenge Kern Valley at 5:30 p.m. (700 Falcon Way, Lebec).

Monday, Jan. 20

•‘Intelligence plus character—that is the true goal of education,’ said Martin Luther King Jr. Today ETUSD, Gorman Elementary and Peak to Peak students have a school holiday to observe the contributions made by civil rights activist. The Mountain Enterprise will be open.

Wednesday, Jan. 22
