Wanted: Volunteers to Help Children Plant Trees on Friday, May 13

Volunteers Needed for Tree Planting Event – May 13
Volunteers are needed to assist school children from Frazier Park Elementary and Pine Mountain Learning Center to plant trees at the Apache Saddle Fire Station this Friday May 13 from 9 a,m. to 1:30 p.m.

Over 170 kids will be planting native pine seedlings in the Los Padres National Forest as part of a revegetation project. The event is a partnership between US Forest Service, Kids4Trees, Veterans for Trees, and the Santa Clarita Valley Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation.

The kids will learn about the need to get involved and help take care of their national forests—public lands. They will learn about how a tree grows, local wildlife, and Veterans for Trees is sharing the message that each tree is being planted in remembrance of a veteran. The kids will have lunch while listening to muscian Dave Kinnoing who will sing songs about trees.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the Apache Saddle Fire Station by 8:30 a.m. Friday morning for instructions.
