Winter Weather Update: Roads Open from Grapevine to Pine Mountain

LEBEC (Sunday, Feb. 22, 2010, 5 a.m.)—Commuters will find open roads throughout the Mountain Communities. The Grapevine is open and traffic is flowing normally.

LEBEC (Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, 8 a.m.)—The Grapevine on Interstate 5 is open and roads are clear in the Mountain Communities despite storm warnings. There is a very light snow dusting at higher elevations in Pine Mountain, with no effect on the roads at this time.

Here is the weather forecast for this mountain region from the National Weather Service:

Sunday Afternoon: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Northwest wind around 16 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday night: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Northwest wind between 11 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. North northwest wind between 11 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. North wind 7 to 10 mph becoming east.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. East wind between 6 and 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 52.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Friday: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.

Friday Night: A slight chance of rain. Snow level 5700 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.

Saturday: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.
