• Family Stargazing Night is 6–10 p.m. at the FMHS football field (700 Falcon Way, Lebec). Kern Co. Astronomical Society will provide telescopes for community use. Admission is $1 for stargazing (7:30–10 p.m.) and a burger meal is available for $7 (6–7:30 p.m.). This cool event is sponsored by El Tejon School as a fundraiser for their school activities.

• Mt. Pinos Ranger District office at Chuchupate will be open on Saturdays during October, 9 a.m–4 p.m., to sell wood permits as well as passes and maps. Their regular weekday hours are 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (34580 Lockwood Valley Rd.). See story on page 3 of the print edition.

* At 9:30 -10 a.m. PMCPOA recall ballots can be hand-delivered in a ‘Special Meeting for Recall of Directors’ in the clubhouse Condor Room. The ballot box is closed at 10 a.m. Results will be announced at the meeting after counting. See editorial on page 5 of the print edition.

• A narrated car tour of the famous Old Ridge Route will be led by Ridge Route Communities Museum historian Bonnie Kane, starting at 10 a.m. The 3-hour tour goes from Gorman to the Tumble Inn. • Restless Beginnings by local author Tina Hogan Grant is the focus of a book signing and talk from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Frazier Park library. Her novel, based on true events, is about the chaos, secrecy and shame of living with a heroin addict.

• Truck-Smashing and Tacos: A Taco Night fundraiser for Frazier Mountain Little League is 4–7 p.m. next to Falcon’s Nest in the South Kern Christian Church parking lot (3224 Mt. Pinos Way, FP). There will be $1 tacos, hot rods and a real truck-smashes-car spectacle. See page 1 of the print edition.

• An artist’s reception for Tim Ellis is 5 p.m. at Artworks Community Gallery in Pine Mountain Village (16233 Pine Valley Lane). See page 10 of the print edition.

• Clear your record, for free! A free criminal record expungement legal clinic is 12–4 p.m. at Bakersfield College.
