Falcon Champions Win First Round in Playoffs

Lebec (Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 11:52 p.m.)—The Frazier Mountain High School Falcon varsity volleyball team has won the High Desert League championship, with a 9-1 record in league play. That propelled them into the CIF Southern playoffs. The Tuesday game against Beaumont has been completed. Here is the note from Coach Sharon Lemburg:

Frazier Mountain won! Next game is Thursday at 7 p.m. but we won’t know whether it is at home or away until Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

Leading the team with kills is Faith Bedard with 17 and Jessi Pilgram with 10, Jackie Hofmann with 7, Dani Gendron with 7 and Angel McNeeley with 3. Backrow passing was June Huerta, Dani Gendron, Kayla Puga, and Jennie Aresco

Lebec (Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010)—On Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. the hometown High Desert League varsity volleyball champions will host a California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section play-off game at Frazier Mountain High School gym.

“We are first place in the High Desert League,” FMHS varsity coach Sharon Lemburg said. On Thursday, Nov. 5 the FMHS Falcons won a challenging set of games against the Kern Valley Broncs that propelled them into the next level.

“We are 9-1 for league, and 18-3 for the season. We are rated 10th in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section,” Lemburg summarized.

Tuesday the Falcons play against Beaumont at 7 p.m. at the Frazier Mountain High School gym.

“If we win, we’ll play again on Thursday and Saturday,” Lemburg said.

The High Desert League varsity champions are Jennie Aresco, Dani Gendron, Karissa Murray, Jackie Hofmann, Faith Bedard, Jessi Pilgram, Angel McNeeley, Coach Lemburg, Kayla Puga, June Huerta, Kayla Burns, Alexa Puga and Syana Guerra.
