UPDATE PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at 2:15 p.m.)—Telephone service is restored in the Pine Mountain community.  Residents can dial out again.

PINE MOUNTAIN, CA (Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at 1:25 p.m.)—Landline phones went down today before noon when Kern County crews were clearing storm drainages along Frazier Mountain Park Road between Frazier Park and Lebec and severed telephone lines.

Only phones with 242 prefixes are affected. Some phone customers have been able to receive calls, but could not dial out. Other customers we contacted have been unable to receive or make calls. Cell phone service was not affected.

Crew members working at the scene estimated that the problem may be resolved within several hours.
