Jamie Jensen was just driving to work in Pine Mountain at about 7:45 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8 when the rear end of his ‘58 Ford pickup slid out and he found himself headed for the ditch off the side of Mil Potrero Highway.

“I thought maybe we’d just go across the ravine,” said Jensen, speaking of himself and his truck. “But it slid into the ditch and flipped over….I’ve been restoring it and this is just a [deleted] drag,” he told CHP officer Todd Birmingham, who called a tow truck.

Jensen was not injured and waited for the tow truck to arrive.

Officer Birmingham was busy near Pine Mountain that morning as another car slid off the roadway west of Nesthorn Drive a short while earlier. Many sections of Mil Potrero Highway are icing up during night and early morning hours, due to snow melting and running over the road.
