* Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pine Mountain Club and Mil Potrero Mutual Water Company at the PMC clubhouse. From 9-11 a.m. will be a workshop on the next phase of clubhouse remodeling, followed by a presentation on our area’s history by Bonnie Kane. At 11:30, MPMWC will answer all your water questions. Then, 1-3 p.m., enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers and a bounce house, courtesy of the water company. Karson City Rebels will entertain 1-4 p.m., then Concert on the Greens (see below). Bandit plays in the Condor Lounge at 7:30 p.m.

• An artists’ reception for painters Richard Krevolin and Megan Monroe is 5 p.m. at Artworks Community Gallery (16233 Pine Valley Lane, Pine Mountain Village). As always, there will be snacks, refreshments and good conversation.

• Lynn Stafford presents ‘Habitat of our Unique Mountains,’ 7 p.m., at Ridge Route Communities Museum (3515 Park Drive, Frazier Park). This final Program on the Patio will spotlight our beautiful plants, birds and animals, with a Biogeography included. See ad on page 10 of the print edition.

• Pine Mountain Club’s Concert on the Greens features City Beat, 4:30–7 p.m. It is on the PMC golf course, so bring blankets and beach chairs. Food and drinks are available for purchase (no outside food or drink). This cool band is made up of active and retired law enforcement officers, so mind your P’s and Q’s!

• ‘Walk in the Park’ is 7–7:30 a.m., a new, fun way to get moving for health. Every Tuesday through August, Dr. Brent Burket and Dr. Jennifer Thoene take turns leading walks in the cool of the morning. Meet at Frazier Mountain Park.

Ongoing and Upcoming

• Fiesta Day is back as a one-day street fair on Saturday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m. until sundown. The ‘We’re Back’ joy begins with the 53rd annual Ed Perine and Dale Hansen Memorial Parade, then booths, vendors and all-around general mischief and fun until the sun sets. A ‘Fiesta After-Party’ will kick off at Sue’s Tavern (3440 Mt. Pinos Road, downtown Frazier Park) at 9 p.m., with live music by Gravity Guild.

• Frontier Army Days, a fun way to learn about the lives of dragoon soldiers and civilians at historic Fort Tejon, is Saturday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at Fort Tejon State Historic Park (4201 Fort Tejon Road, Lebec).

• The Perch is bringing back the holidays we missed during 2020 quarantine 2020! The first is Summer Paradise, Saturday, Aug. 7, 5 p.m. Music will start at 6 p.m., featuring Kingston Tree Band, and then the festivities will carry on upstairs at the bar. • Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is coming back—come dive into books! This beloved recurring event was stalled like everything else for 18 months, and will make its joyful return Tuesday, Aug. 10, and run Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, Aug. 11, 12 and 14 in the Community Room at Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive). Tuesday is for members only (you can buy or renew on-site that day); Wednesday and Thursday are for the public; Saturday is also for the public, with the added bonus of the buck-a-bag sale. • Register for Frazier Mountain Little League’s Fall Ball, now through August 31, $65 for new players and $50 for returning players. All registrations must be done through the website, www.fmll.org. (Volunteers are greatly needed, too!)

* Coffee with a Cop—Join your neighbors and police officers for coffee and conversation, Monday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m. in the Pine Mountain clubhouse (2524 Beechwood Way). No agenda or speeches on tap, just a chance to ask questions, discuss concerns and get to know some of the officers in your community.

• You are invited to a Mountain Communities Collaborative meeting, Thursday, Aug. 26, 9:30–11 a.m. via Zoom, hosted by the Mountain Communities Family Resource Center (MCFRC). This meeting will cover the cooling center updates, back to school supply drive and will also be welcoming new Frazier Park Library associate Chase Steigleder.
