• Enjoy a backcountry adventure at Wind Wolves Preserve, The History of the San Emigdio Mountains, 8–10 a.m. See wildlife, learning natural history and Native American lore in a free and comfy van tour. From Frazier Park, head north on I-5 19.4 miles, exit west on State Route 166 and drive 14.6 miles to 16019 Maricopa Highway (661.858.1115). Bring sunscreen, water, snacks, a jacket and sturdy shoes.

• The Scouts West 4×4 Club meets 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Los Pinos Mexican Restaurant (133 Frazier Mountain Park Road, Lebec).Chapter President John Vogelsang (661-245-3250) says it is the Frazier Park Chapter’s 20th year.

• Wind Wolves Preserve invites you to bring a picnic dinner, take a small hike and enjoy family-friendly movie Brother Bear, 5:15 to 8:15 p.m., in beautiful San Emigdio Canyon. • Recycle your Christmas tree at the Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road, Lebec). Kern County Waste Management asks that you remove tree stands, nails and decorations (no plastic garbage bags, please).

• Do you need help with your open enrollment for Medi-Cal Insurance and Covered California? Call for an appointment, Monday–Friday, at the Family Resource Center with a certified enrollment counselor (661-245-4303). Open enrollment ends February 15.

• Do you have a high school senior applying for college or are you considering returning to school? The 2015­­-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. Complete the application, free, on the official government site, fafsa.gov.

• Volunteers are needed to help restore the 93,000 acre Wind Wolves Preserve by planting native species and helping to remove invasive plants.
