•The Vine Pregnancy Center’s Sanctity of Life Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser is 5–7 p.m. at Cuddy Hall (335 Lakewood Dr., Lake of the Woods). Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. ($10 for adults; $8 children; ages 2 and under are free). All proceeds from the dinner and drawing for three gift baskets benefit Vine Pregnancy Center and outreach programs (Cathy Watson: 661.343.5653).

Monday, January 19 — Martin Luther King School Holiday

•‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that’–Martin Luther King Jr. Today, all ETUSD, Gorman Elementary and Peak to Peak Mountain Charter students have a school holiday to honor the contributions of civil rights leader MLK. The Mountain Enterprise will be open.

• The Frazier Mountain Quilters will meet today at the Frazier Mountain Park Senior Center (3801 Park Drive, Frazier Park) from 12:30 to 4 p.m. (661.331.1837).

• Los Padres National Forest will begin a series of prescribed burns, as early as Jan. 19.

• Los Padres National Forest will host a Wildlands Fire Diversity Boot Camp for career-minded women. Graduates of the program will be eligible to serve as on-call wildland firefighters. Apply by January 26.

• Do you need help with your open enrollment for Medi-Cal Insurance and Covered California? Call for an appointment, Monday–Friday, at the Family Resource Center with a certified enrollment counselor (661-245-4303). Open enrollment ends February 15.

• Do you have a high school senior applying for college or are you considering returning to school? The 2015­­-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. Complete the application, free, on the official government site, fafsa.gov.
