•The Vine Pregnancy Center’s Sanctity of Life Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser is 5–7 p.m. at Cuddy Hall (335 Lakewood Dr., Lake of the Woods). Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. ($10 for adults; $8 children; ages 2 and under are free). Monday, January 19 — Martin Luther King School Holiday
•‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that’–Martin Luther King Jr. Today, all ETUSD, Gorman Elementary and Peak to Peak Mountain Charter students have a school holiday to honor the contributions of civil rights leader MLK. The Mountain Enterprise will be open.

• Los Padres National Forest will host a Wildlands Fire Diversity Boot Camp for career-minded women. Graduates of the program will be eligible to serve as on-call wildland firefighters. Apply by January 26.
