Famous Footwear Distribution Center Robbed at Gunpoint

This is from a news release of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

FRAZIER PARK, December 12, 2009, 9:40 p.m.—Deputies from the Lamont and Frazier Park Sheriff‘s substations responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at the Famous Footwear Distribution Center along Interstate 5 north of the base of the Grapevine. There deputies contacted the on-duty security guard who reported the following.

A light blue conventional style semi truck with no trailer arrived at the distribution center. The security guard unlocked the gate to allow the truck in. At that time the security guard was met by a black male that brandished a handgun. The security guard was then tied up by the black male. A second black male drove the truck into the shipping dock area. The two black male suspects, who were also accompanied by a third black male, then hooked the truck up to a trailer that was loaded with shoes and socks. All three suspects then drove away in the truck with the loaded trailer from the distribution center northbound on Dennis McCarthy Drive.

The security guard described the first suspect as a black male 30-35, no further description. The second two suspects were only identified as black males.

The investigation is continuing.
