BAKERSFIELD (July 14, 2011 at 10 a.m.)— The board of the California High Speed Rail Authority is meeting today in Bakersfield. Although not on the public agenda, the public comments are likely to make some reference to the study considering the benefits of shooting the high speed rail line across the Grapevine, following the Interstate 5. There is also discussion about an HSR maintenance facility in the Bakersfield area, which has been promoted as a source of stable jobs in the region.The city of Palmdale has filed a lawsuit to try ot prevent the authority from studying the ‘Grapevine alignment’ option.
