AT&T Problem Cuts Front Line to The Mountain Enterprise

UPDATE—FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 12:07 p.m.)—Good news! The AT&T techncian said the main office line to The Mountain Enterprise (661-245-3794) has now been fixed and the system is again operating normally. He said there was a "corroded connector" in the AT&T box at the property line which affected that one line only.

UPDATE—FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 9:22 a.m.)—A Breaking News note from a community reporter in the Pine Mountain community—In response to your AT&T story, our phone line in PMC has been dropping calls all morning, both with people in the area and outside, on cell phones and land lines. We’re receiving phone calls, so I don’t know if our issue is related to yours or separate.  Submitted: November 12, 2012, 11:34 a.m.

The Mountain Enterprise also had a land line call suddenly cut off today from Pine Mountain. This was happening earlier in the year in the Pine Mountain community, until some repairs were completed by AT&T.

UPDATE—FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 9:22 a.m.)—AT&T has come up with a temporary measure to make it possible for our normal number, 661-245-3794, to be in service today while they work to correct the problem. That means that you may dial our regular 245-3794 front line, and it will be answered at the office in a normal fashion.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.)—
The Mountain Enterprise discovered this morning, Monday, Nov. 12, that the normal main business line is out of order due to an apparent AT&T malfunction. It is deceptive, because the caller hears rings, but no connection is made to the office and AT&T has no outgoing message to the calling public to inform them of a problem and our alternate numbers.

If other business or home lines have been compromised in the region today, please let us know. You can call 245-NEWS or email Editor@MountainEnterprise.com (or click the Breaking News hotlink at this site, at the top of the page).

AT&T said service will be restored to our normal 661-245-3794 main business line by 7:30 p.m. today, or before. In the meantime, again, to contact the newspaper today, please use our Breaking News line: 661-245-NEWS (6397).
*Please see update above,
as a ‘work-around’ has been arranged wtih AT&T so our regular number appears to be working.
