Teen Reported Missing from Party near Quatal Canyon

UPDATE-PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 7a.m.)—At about 6:55 a.m. the young woman was found near Quatal Canyon, about three miles from Cerro Noereste Road. A helicopter with paramedic was waiting to provide aid if needed. See details in this week’s issue of The Mountain Enterprise.

UPDATE-PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at 8:22 p.m.)—Radio transmission indicates that friends in L.A. County last heard from the missing party about 1 p.m. this afternoon, and decided to report her lost at nightfall when they had heard no further from her. That would mean that she has been lost for over five hours. Read below for the details of this breaking news issue.

The reporting parties are said to be heading now to Thousand Oaks to speak with a family member. Two Kern County Search and Rescue teams headed toward the Quatal Canyon area. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of the missing young woman, please contact authorities at Kern County Sheriff’s dispatch. UPDATE-PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at 8:22 p.m.)—Though all these are breaking news reports, unconfirmed, there are now two Kern County Search and Rescue teams headed toward the Quatal Canyon area. One is from Bakersfield, another group of volunteers is assembling from the Mountain Communities. Meanwhile, investigators are still trying to confirm whether there is a possiblity that the young woman may have been removed from the area by another.

There is fear that the young woman may be "passed out" in the woods in the freezing temperatures. The Search and Rescue Teams are still being deployed.

UPDATE-PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at 8:04 p.m.)—It is suspected that the lost party has a red vehicle still parked at the campsite. There is confusion as to whether someone may have found the girl and guided her out. Meanwhile, sheriff’s deputies and Search and Rescue resources continue to assemble.

Sheriff’s deputies are meeting with a man and a woman at McDonald’s in Gorman who they believe to be friends based on tracing the cell phone number secured earlier. There is fear that the young woman may be "passed out" in the woods in the freezing temperatures. The Search and Rescue Team is still being deployed.

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Sunday, Nov. 12, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.)—The Southern Kern Search and Rescue team from the Frazier Mountain area is being called to assemble to help find a teenager reportedly lost when she wandered from "a party" being held in Quatal Canyon. It was about 30 degrees on Mil Potrero Highway at 7:25 p.m. this evening as the call was going out to the searchers. Kern County Sheriff’s helicopter Air One was assisting.

There was a cell phone call from the girl, reportedly, to say she was lost, although she could "hear the music from the party," but could not find her way back in the dark. She reportedly has only a blanket with her, and her cell phone battery has run out. The party may be taking place near Toad Springs, where sheriff’s deputies are reporting there were about 20 cars.
