Community Clean-Up Helpers to Win TV, iPad

By Patric Hedlund

Volunteers for the May 5 Roadside Clean-up of Frazier Mountain Park Road are urged to pre-register by April 30 to be included in a drawing for a free 55-inch LCD TV, an Apple 3G iPad and other prizes.

Call 245-4303 to pre-register to be part of the 7:30 to noon work crews. Free lunch will also be provided to all workers, along with gloves, vests and trash bags, supplied by Kern County Waste Management and the Kern County Roads Department.

Mountain Communities Municipal Advisory Council Chair Steve Newman is inviting local groups to partner in the clean-up effort, which will include a free “bulky waste” drop-off point from 8 a.m. to noon at Tait Ranch on Frazier Mountain Park Road, just east of Frazier Park. Items such as old couches, mattresses, refrigerators, stoves, ‘e-waste’ and washing machines are welcome. Building materials, green waste, toxic material and tires are not. You can also make an appointment for community volunteers to pick up your unwanted bulky waste items by calling 245-4303.
