Fatality Results When Two Big Rigs and one Van on Fire at Hwy 166 and Cerro Noroeste

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at 2:30 p.m.)–CHP reports that lanes are open in both directions on Highway 166 near Cerro Noroeste Road.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at 12:45 p.m.)–One fatality is confirmed in this morning’s fiery big rig crash at Highway 166 and Cerro Noroeste Road, according to the Buttonwillow CHP office. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at 10:20 a.m.)–Two big rigs and a van were involved in a collision this morning at about 9:20 a.m., near the intersection of Highway 166 and Cerro Noroeste Road, west of Pine Mountain, according to the California Department of Transportation. One of the big rigs is a propane tanker and all vehicles are reported to be on fire at this time.

Highway 166 westbound will be closed at Highway 33 in Maricopa. Highway 166 eastbound will be closed at Highway 33 in San Luis Obispo County (the Ojai turnoff).

No estimated time has been given to reopen the roadway. The public is advised to avoid the area. The public is advised to call 1-800-427-ROAD (7623) for the latest road conditions statewide.
