Forum on U.S. Service Academies set for October 19

A forum for students who want to attend a U.S. Service Academy will be hosted on Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to noon, by staff of Congressman Kevin McCarthy.

The process to seek a congressional nomination to one of the five academies will be explained by liaison officers from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis), the U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorodo Springs), and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY).

The event will be held at the Kern High School District boardroom, 5801 Sundale Avenue, Bakersfield (93309).
RSVP at Kevin McCarthy’s office (661-327-3611 or RSVP.McCarthy@mail.house.gov).

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers appointments solely on the basis of a nationwide merit-based competition, and no congressional nomination is required.
