Library to add day of service

A $2.9 billion budget was passed by the Kern County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, including $500,000 so all county libraries can extend an additional day of service each week.

Frazier Park Branch Library Supervisor Marie Smith said she thinks Friday will be the added day here, but plans are still being developed. If so, the lovely facility across from Frazier Mountain Park will be open Tuesday through Saturday.

Funds for the Arts Council of Kern and the Board of Trade Tourism Grant Fund were approved. The Kern County Animal Control facility in Bakersfield is relocating, with a $2.5 million budget for the transition.
