Toys for Tots saved for local families

Deadline for signups is Dec. 2 at noon

The Mountain Communities Family Resource Center (MCFRC) will be signing up families for the Toys for Tots program this month.

Toys for Tots was previously managed by the Marine Corps Reserve, which is no longer in Kern County. The Family Resource Center teamed up with the Jeremy Staat Foundation to collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys for disadvantaged Mountain Community children.

Boy Scout Troop 242 in Pine Mountain will wrap and distribute collection boxes at local businesses in the Pine Mountain community. Other mountain groups are needed to help as well. All gifts collected here will go to local families.

In previous years Toys for Tots provided toys for children to age 9. This year our program will give toys to kids up to age 13.

Please also donate gifts for children over age 13 (Gifts for Teens), so all our youth in need have gifts for Christmas.

The last day to sign up to receive toys is December 2 at noon. The last day to drop off toys is December 15.

Call 661-245-4303 to volunteer to help and to refer a family for the programs.

Each time a toy is dropped into our local collection boxes, think about the child who will open that special gift on Christmas morning.
