Breaking News:

As we go to press, a short statement has been received thanking Cathy Wallace for her five years of service with the troubled El Tejon Unified School District Board of Trustees.

Wallace co-pastors the Frazier Mountain Community Church, also known as the Frazier Park Foursquare Church, that uses Frazier Mountain High School for its Sunday services and bible school.

Wallace won re-election to a second term as trustee in 2010, but refused to answer questions from the public and the newspaper in her re-election campaign. Her term was to expire in 2014.

Superintendent Katie Kleier said in a letter dated July 19 that Wallace resigned on July 14, “effective immediately” due to health issues. Wallace expressed anger at the July 13 board meeting at the intense public scrutiny the board had received (including threats of recall) during the public revolt over the trustees’ vote to drop sports from the schools due to a budget crisis. That vote was reversed.

Kleier said in her letter that the board will consider how to fill the vacancy at its August 10 meeting.—P.Hedlund
