Woman Killed Walking Across I-5 Near Gorman

LEBEC (January 1, 2011 at 3 p.m.)—A Kent, Washington woman, 43 was killed New Years Eve at 8:55 p.m. when she pulled her vehicle onto the west shoulder of the southbound Interstate 5 north of Gorman Road. The woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, left her vehicle and began walking across the freeway. According to the report from California Highway Patrol, she "walked across all four southbound lanes and climbed over the center divider guardrail. For an undetermined reason she walked into the #2 lane of northbound 1-5, directly into the path of an unknown vehicle. She was hit by the unknown vehicle (which failed to stop and left the scene of the collision). She was struck by an unknown number of other vehicles in the #2 lane, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene."
