Water meters and pipeline repairs on shopping list as annex vote deadline nears

Two significant announcements were delivered at the meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 19 of the Lake of the Woods Mutual Water Company.

Self-Help Enterprises Consultant Dave Warner informed attendees that it is confirmed that the water company has received a $1.4 million grant to replace specific aging lines and install water meters on all the water system’s 400 connections.

The second piece of good news was that Warner met that day with the owner of Lake of the Woods Mobile Village…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)

Consultant Dave Warner’s powerpoint for Lake of the Woods property owners January 19 explained the difficulty of having no place left to search for water within the boundaries of their own district, and the decline of their wells.

This is the region encompassed so far by the proposed regional water project.
Any individual wells or water systems in this area are eligible to join the project. This qualifies the region for infrastructure update funding and makes it possible to search a larger geographical area for water resources, creating greater water security for the entire region. Usage and regional watershed surveys, according to consultants, indicate there is adequate water in the aquifer for all residents of the region.

LOW has been ordered by the state to find a solid water supply
