We say it. We mean it. We’re always working to improve here at The Mountain Enterprise. Over the last two months we have developed two new services to bring quick information to our readers when breaking news strikes related to public safety. The alerts will be posted at www.MountainEnterprise.com.
Phoning It In
The Mountain Enterprise Breaking News telephone hotline launches this week at 245-NEWS.
If you have urgent news to report, call the hotline 24 hours per day, seven days per week. An automatic phone tree system will seek a reporter, transfer your call to the Breaking News voice mail, send the voice message out to all reporters’ computers through email and send text messages to several reporters’ cell phones.
Depending on the report and response from official sources, a reporter will call you back immediately or contact you when the newspaper office opens.
Lightning Fast Web Reports
A Breaking News website report tool is now available for the community also. Go to www.MountainEnterprise.com and click the red lightning bolt in the upper-left corner of the page.
Your breaking news report and up to three photographs can be submitted in a single report. The system sends your report to the computers of all staff at The Mountain Enterprise and sends text messages to reporters’ cell phones.
The new Breaking News phone and internet systems will enable The Mountain Enterprise to more quickly inform the community about critical news events on its website www.MountainEnterprise.com.
Community members are urged to restrict their use of the Breaking News systems to urgent news requiring immediate coverage.
Please see the guide linked at the top of the Breaking News page.
This is part of the July 25, 2008 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
