• Did you say chicken dinner? Learn about the Bobcat Reading Program Kickoff at Frazier Park School, 4:30–6:30 p.m. Enjoy delicious chicken dinners ($4 and $6 to benefit the PTSO and school literacy). Note: This event rescheduled from May 5.

Thursday, May 12

• Gorman School’s PTSO hosts Star Wars: The Force Awakens in this free family movie night at 4:30 p.m.

• Tips for Fighting Fraud are covered in a meeting presented by Supervisor David Couch at 6 p.m. in the PMC Condor Room. Deputy District Attorney David Wolf, Crime Prevention Specialist Ashley Glover and Kern County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dustin Downey will speak.

Ongoing and Upcoming

• The 34th Annual Lilac Festival is May 14-15. Submit your parade and booth applications right away. Get them at www.pmclilacfestival.com. May 1 is the deadline for vendors, May 8 for parade entries. The festival is 9 a.m.–5 p.m. both days in the Pine Mountain Village Center. The fun starts with the parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday. • Are cool cars and fun your thing? The 8th Annual Ridge Route Run Car Show is coming to Frazier Park, Saturday, May 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with amazing cars, food, music, local arts, crafts and a military parade.
