Spirits were high and smiles were wide (though hidden behind masks) as El Tejon Unified School District students enjoyed an eager back-to-school day on Tuesday, Feb. 9. All three district schools reopened for in-person learning this week, in accord with state guidance and safety protocols.
“Today was wonderful,” reported ETUSD superintendent Sara Haflich, who is also the principal of Frazier Mountain High School.

It took many by surprise Tuesday, Feb. 9, to see students waiting at bus stops in the early morning, just as dawn was breaking. Frazier Mountain Park Road lit up with children’s voices, bright backpacks, and curious little faces behind masks at bus stops.
The long yellow buses took to the mountain roads, bringing children back to full-time, in-person school attendance for the first time in almost a year. All the El Tejon Unified School District schools opened up to in-person instruction.
