Mountain Memories Association presents the 49th Annual Fiesta Days on Friday, Aug. 5 (1-10 p.m.); Saturday, Aug. 6 (10 a.m.-10 p.m.); and Sunday, Aug. 7 (10 a.m.- 6 p.m.). Fiesta Days is the longest-running, family-friendly, multi-day celebration in the Mountain Communities.

The three-day event has become a yearly pilgrimage for reunions with family and old friends coming from all over the country. Last year an estimated 5,000 people participated.

The opening bands kick off on Friday afternoon, headlined by Yolanda and the Stolen Boys. The ever-popular Fiesta Days Pet Show is in the spotlight. Come watch as contestants parade their animal friends across the stage. Enter your fluffy feline, scaly snakes, charismatic turtles and brilliant dogs showing their best costumes and funniest tricks in the epic (and friendly) contest.

Did you know there are three categories to choose from? Enter to win ‘Best Dog,’ ‘Best Small Animal’ and ‘Best Dressed.’ There’s also a trophy awarded for ‘Best Overall.’

On Saturday morning, bright and early, enjoy the VFW Pancake Breakfast in the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center.

At 10 a.m. the Ed Perine Memorial Parade begins. Floats, horses and surprising entries of all kinds will roll eastward, starting from the parking lot beside Falcon’s Nest Cafe. They’ll march down Mt. Pinos Way, then head up Monterey Trail to their destination of Frazier Mountain Park where Fiesta Days vendors booths, food and the carnival are waiting. [You can get parade and vendor applications at www.FrazierFiestaDays.org].

At the park you’ll also find fun family games, eating contests, exotic races and a rolling thunder of fun bands. The carnival and amusements arcade will have rides and games for all ages.
Mountain Memories’ founding mission was to support the health and well-being of the community since it began 49 years ago. The Houchin Community Mobile Blood Bank will be there for blood donations. We hope to contribute to the local blood supply. Please consider giving the gift of life, and get a special Fiesta Days button.

On Sunday those delicious pancakes (plus eggs, sausage and other good things) will be served again by the VFW Pancake Breakfast crew. We will also hold ‘Worship in the Park’ for the third year. Join in the community-wide worship service with music and singing.

You’ll want to try your hand competing to win a trophy in the Horseshoe Tournament. The George Erb and Brian Prosser Log Sawing Contest also beckons. Show off your strength and win a medal.

So, are you ready? Tweet, message, text and call those friends to save the date, and plan to be there!
